Emily DeRuiter works with Cru (formerly Campus Crusade) as a videographer – filming and editing videos for evangelism, training, and promotion. LaGrave supports her through the Henry Beets Mission Society. Emily will be working at Cru’s Vision Conference in Denver, December 28 to January 1. Students – most of whom don’t yet follow Jesus – from 90 countries are expected to attend – a great opportunity for them to be exposed to the gospel! I made a video in three languages I do not actually speak.
You should have seen how their faces lit up when I asked them to speak their native tongues. The delight was infectious. When I finished filming, the real hard work began. Putting that video together was quite a challenge for me.
This was one of the coolest videos I created in 2025. It has been in the works for a whole year and took nearly two months to create. Now it is debuting for an audience for the first time very soon.
I talked to 16 college students for this project last December at Vision Conference. This video will play for the first time on December 28 with an international audience from all over the world. For five days straight it will play like a movie trailer before every main session.
People from nearly 90 different nations will be in attendance. Most of these students do not follow Christ, but they are interested in learning about the Bible and they are asking questions about faith. These students, who we lovingly call seekers, will be hearing the Gospel and Bible messages multiple times every day, sometimes even in their own native languages.
My team and I created this video to open every main session. I do not dare show it to you just yet. I do not want to rob students of being the first audience. But I plan to record a video of students’ reactions when I get there.
I am headed to Denver, Colorado with international students I know from volunteering with a ministry in Austin, Texas. This has been part of my job for four years now, and I am so grateful.
It is funny how slow I am to see Christ’s plan sometimes.
