Opening Night

Everyone arrived safely and on time and we couldn’t be more grateful! We had a lovely first meal (spaghetti and meatballs) and then the students enjoyed some mixer games. This was the first time the groups interacted and it was a lot of fun! They did a team building activity where they tried to build a tower out of toothpicks and marshmallows.

Then they played rock, paper, scissors games.

And finally, they met their small groups for the first time. At SERVE, you spend a lot of time with your small group which is a mix of leaders and students from all different churches.

We concluded the evening with our first session. Session is our worship time. We sing some worship songs and then our speaker, Rev. Jen Rozema, introduced the theme for the year which is “Broken and Beautiful.” She used the imagery of a kintsugi bowl which is a type of Japanese art form where a bowl is broken and then pieced back together with gold interlace.

Please continue to pray for relationships and friendships to flourish and for God to continue to open our eyes to new things.
