LaGrave Has a Place For You

We are a community of broken people redeemed by Jesus and in the process of being made new by God to be a light in this world. Get to know us by attending a worship service or social event. If you've been attending LaGrave for a while and feel a sense of belonging, consider officially joining as a member.

What to Expect

When you come to worship with us, you will be welcomed into an inspiring worship space designed to lift the hearts out of the worries of everyday life and into the loving presence of God.

Accompanied by our beautiful organ, you will hear and sing some of the great old hymns of faith along with some wonderful newer songs. You will hear a Bible-based sermon that will show you God’s grace in Jesus, and help you apply that good news to your life. You will find yourself surrounded by a warm community of all ages who love and support each other.

You May be Wondering...

  • What happens once I walk through the door?

Door Greeters, Welcome Center Hosts, and Ushers are here to answer questions and help you navigate through your morning with us. After each service, you may choose to visit the chapel for prayer, participate in 10 O’Clock Hour activities, or enjoy coffee and mingle in the Multipurpose Room.

  • What’s available for those with special needs?

It is our goal at LaGrave to reduce barriers to worship and church activities for all of our congregants. Ask a greeter, usher, or welcome desk volunteer if you need to find something on a Sunday morning.

    We have:

    • accessible parking spaces; a zero-entry outdoor entrance; and power door entry to the building and bathroom
    • elevator access to all floors
    • T-coil loop systems work with hearing aids for good sound quality during worship
    • large print bulletins and hymnals
    • accessible seating spaces on the main floor of the sanctuary where the pews have been cut away to accommodate a wheelchair or walker
    • pew cushions and wiggle seats for adults and children who find sitting on wooden pews difficult
  • Is there a dress code?

We don’t have a dress code—come as you are. Whether you feel most comfortable in jeans or your Sunday best, you’re always welcome.

  • How do you include children in worship?

Children 4 years old through 2nd grade join their families during worship for the first part of the service. They’re invited forward for a children’s message, and after that go to upstairs classrooms for Children’s Worship. Children also participate in leading worship through choral and instrumental music, and occasional litanies.

Children’s ministry is available and check-in attendants can help you find the way with your little ones.

  • Is there a nursery?

Yes, we have an Infant Nursery for 0-1 year olds and a 2s and 3s class for older kids. Our computer check in/check out process ensures that all children are released only to the adult who checked them in.

  • Where do I park?

We have a large parking lot on LaGrave Avenue, directly across from the front door. Another lot on the West side of our building (the corner of Cherry and Sheldon) has a covered drop-off area and accessible parking for people with handicap placards. Additional street parking is also available.

  • What safety protocols are in place?

LaGrave is a church “in the city, under the cross.” You may encounter some of our unhoused neighbors as you come for worship. We have parking lot attendants and security staff who are aware of what is happening in the neighborhood as we seek to interact with our neighbors with humanity and love.
